Ready to make memories that will last a lifetime? Some of the best family vacation homes are in northern Michigan. These are places where memories can last for a lifetime. There’s something for everyone, from small cabins all the way to huge vacation homes. If you’re on vacation with your family or friends, we have the perfect home for you. Indian River group vacation homes offer the space and comfort you require to enjoy the most memorable trip of your life. Make sure you remember this trip!
Welcome to Stone’s Throw Cottage, a real farm in the North that you can stay at. This cute and quirky house has been fixed up and is tucked away among big old trees on a half-acre lot with some fencing. It’s also very close to all of Indian River’s best shops, restaurants, and nightlife spots. It’s able to comfortably accommodate the needs of six guests in the three spacious bedrooms. Additionally, there is a recently renovated sleeping cabin for four additional adventurous travelers.
You can unwind in our living and dining areas after a long day of swimming in rivers and lakes or hiking trails, golfing, shopping, or even visiting Mackinac Island. It is also possible to enjoy the terrace with its grill or sit with friends around the fireplace and enjoy an assortment of marshmallows.
There is no guarantee that you will have your own beach, but there are several public boat docks less than a mile away. Have a lot of boats and toys? Our extra-large lot is big enough for it! The river park is right across the street, and it only takes 10 minutes to walk to the public beach.
The beauty of Northern Michigan will take your breath away! The 17,120-acre Burt Lake is beautiful, with clear water, tall trees, and friendly animals. On the rocky waters, you might even find the famous Petoskey Stone if you’re lucky. Do you like sandy adventures? A football field’s length of sandbars sticks out from the shore and drops to a depth of 73 feet.
Three large bedrooms and two full bathrooms make Stone’s Throw Cottage a great place for six people to stay. Are there any adventurers within your circle who would like to travel north? The cheerful and bright sleeping shack is just 7 steps from the shack. It can accommodate four additional people to sleep as well as a second space to relax with a smart TV and poker table.
Fun activities to enjoy don’t end with Indian River. Petoskey, Harbor Springs, Bay Harbor, Boyne Highlands, and Mackinaw City are all close and only a 30-minute drive away. Want some ideas for your stay? We’ve explored the Indian River many times and can help you plan a trip full of Up North magic!

We came for the boat races and this house was just perfect! The house is absolutely adorable and plenty of space so our group was not on top of each other. It was right across the street from a city river access park so whether you’re just looking for a quiet morning cup of coffee on the water or the perfect seat for some boat races this house has it all! You can easily walk up town to several bar/restaurants/ice cream shops and it’s really not far from anything you need/want. We had a great stay and the hosts were very helpful with any of our questions!

Stone’s Throw Cottage is a wonderful house in a beautiful location. Loved being so close to Devoe Beach, shops, and the green docks. Our kids were absolutely thrilled to stay in the bunk house; such a great space for them! Thanks again for a great week. We will definitely be back to Burt Lake and would rent here again.

Our stay at Stone’s Throw was amazing. The house, and additional cabin, fit our group perfectly. It was in a great location to food and the boat launch. And the “To Do” list was a great touch!!

Great location, perfect spot to enjoy river, town, ice cream and beach. As a kid Indian river was my favorite place to visit family. So I took my family back to relive those memories. House was the perfect size for four generations, fitting comfortably.

We had the loveliest time at Stone’s Throw Cottage! The house was in a great location, walkable to the small town (restaurants, ice cream shops, cafe) in Indian River, and right across the street from the river itself! The house was so comfortable and surprisingly spacious – large bathrooms and an extremely well-stocked kitchen. In addition, the backyard was perfect for a family with kids room for them to run around while we enjoyed the patio and grill. Host was very responsive throughout, and the home was well cleaned. There was so much to do in Indian River, enjoying the river and nearby lakes, Mackinac Island and the Upper Peninsula only a bit north! Highly recommend! We loved our week here!!

This cottage has it all. Plenty of space, all the amenities you need and a FANTASTIC location! Plenty to do in Indian River, or just relax, play games and have a fire. Close to Mackinac Island and Petoskey is a great place to visit.
Time permitting you can rent a boat or just walk along the channels and Lake Burt. Can’t wait to come back.
Thanks Marc and Michele!!

Perfect stay, ultra responsive host made it easy to relax and enjoy. Quick drive to Nubs Nob.
The cottage and detached room is very nice and homey, we were very comfortable in the home. It provided everything we needed for our stay. It’s a quaint place, a little old cottage feel and new. They had a fire pit we used and lots of games to play in our downtime.
The cottage is very close to many things, we were a 1/2 block away from a little park on the river. We were able to walk to restaurants, shopping and ice cream shops.
We also golfed and rented a pontoon boat to spend a day on the lakes and river, both of these places were close to the cottage.
We spent an afternoon on DeVoe beach which is very nice, the water was clear and calm. Great for little kids to swim in.
We also went to Cheboygan, Ocqueoc falls and Mackinaw Island which were within 30 minutes from the cottage.
I would stay here again and recommend it for a nice place to stay.
Have been going to Indian River my whole life. Was nice to find a spot for 4 of us as a place to stay for a golf/boating weekend.
